Request for Marraige Permission

The rabbi Aleksandar Izrael requested the The Zemun Magistrate to allow the marriage of Debora, daughter of the late Jakov, and David Lederer from Čakovo. Attached to the application was the order of the Magistrate from May 1800 issued to Jakov Rafael Solomon, Jewish Magistrate from Zemun. The order stated that the rabbi could not perform the marriage ceremony before obtaining the consent of the Magistrate. The reason for this rule was that many foreigners were getting married to obtain the permanent residence, and the Jewish Community was that way increasing which was not accordant to the law.
